National Air and Space Museum

All ages, teacher resources
This site corresponds to the National Air and Space Museum astronomy exhibit. It offers a wealth of information on many topics including: interplanetary exploration, voyager missions, earth observation, a comparison of the planets, asteroids, comets, meteors, the solar system, and the planets.   It features solar system activities, quizzes, images and artifacts of the exhibit at the National Air and Space Museum, as well as links for educators, teacher resources, and other space-related information.

This interactive site offers kid-friendly pictures, experiments and information on the universe, space exploration, and the solar system.

NASA for teachers

Teacher resources
The aim of Thursday's Classroom is to provide a connection between NASA research and the classroom. Professional educators and scientists at NASA prepare weekly lessons based on the latest scientific events. Lessons include discussion questions, activities, and work sheets. Lessons are available in Spanish as well as on a variety of reading levels.

NASA’s Mars Exploration Program

Teacher resources and elementary and middle school students
This site offers many creative ideas, information, and resources on Mars. It has a homework help section, a question and answer center where one can talk with NASA scientists, paper models of spacecrafts, images, teacher resources, and learning projects.

NASA’s Solar System Simulator

All ages, teacher resources
The Jet Propulsion Laboratory features a simulator from which you can planets, moons and constellations from various locations including satellites. The site includes links to other information including: the Earth, the solar system, stars and galaxies, and technology. This NASA site also features the latest news, missions, events and research. It offers links for children and educators as well.

NASA’s Laboratory for High Energy Astrophysics- StarChild site

Elementary and Teacher resources
This site is a learning center for young astronomers. It features two elementary levels of activities, links, movies, and a glossary on topics related to the Solar System, and the universe. In each section you will find interesting information about a variety of astronomical topics, including everything you ever wanted to know about becoming an astronaut, the Hubble Space Telescope, additional space probes, spacesuits, and space travel. It also offers a page of related links.

U.S. Naval Observatory Astronomical Applications Department

High school students, and Teacher resources
This site provides tables, charts, and information on Sunrise, Sunset, Moonrise, Moonset, and Twilight, the Phases of the Moon, Eclipses, Positions of the Sun and Moon, Data for Solar System Bodies and Bright Stars, and Celestial Navigation.

This site provides Virtual Reality Moon Phase Pictures for past and present dates.

Space Day

Grades 4-8 and Teacher resources
The Space Day educational initiative, which takes place on the first Thursday of each May, is dedicated to the extraordinary achievements, benefits and opportunities in the exploration and use of space. The ultimate goal is to promote math, science, technology and engineering education by nurturing young peoples' enthusiasm for the wonders of the universe and inspiring them to continue the stellar work of today's space explorers. This site explains design challenges for the current year’s competition. It also features a variety of space-related games.

The Nine Planets 

This site is an overview of the history, mythology, and current scientific knowledge of each of the planets and moons in our solar system. Each page has text and images, some have sounds and movies, most provide references to additional related information.

Internet Kids and Family Yellow Pages

Here you will find a space calendar, a comet recipe, and links to space exploration and views of the Solar System. This site includes family activities, games, homework help, and resources for young children.

This site allows you to plug in time, location, and other selections to "see" what's up, even during the daylight hours. Users can view astronomical information, stars, planets, eclipses, the moon, star charts and other features. 

Space Views - Pathfinder Arrives at Mars

Elementary and Middle School
Check out some in-depth articles and take a quiz on the Mars Pathfinder.  This site provides information, images and illustrations on the Mars Pathinder Mission and plans for the future, including articles from the pages of SpaceViews and SpaceViews Update. Explore topics such as life on Mars, or visit a variety of links.

This site contains information and headlines on the Space Shuttle, space stations, and other space vehicles. Visitors can experience Kennedy Space Center's Time Capsule for a stirring review of America's space program. It offers educational resources, live video, publications and activities.
