EEOC coordinates all federal equal employment

Independent Living Centers
The ILRU (Independent Living Research
Utilization) program is a national center for information,
training, research, and technical assistance in independent
living. Its goal is to expand the body of knowledge in

is a program of TIRR (The Institute for Rehabilitation and
Research), a nationally recognized medical rehabilitation

Partnership for Education
This site is dedicated to communication
exchange and resources to promote implementation of the IDEA
amendments of 1997. FAPE provides written information about
IDEA '97 for families and advocates. The web site contains
English, as well as Spanish and Hmong translations of selected
on-line documents and printed materials. FAPE provides
training on IDEA '97 and related topics at workshops, brown
bag seminars, satellite video conferences, and on-line
training on the internet. They offer referrals to national,
state, and local disability organizations and advocates and to
a nationwide network of parent training and information
centers and community parent resource centers for information
on IDEA '97. FAPE provides information on research about best
practices.
The HEATH
Resource Center
The HEATH Resource Center is the national
clearinghouse on postsecondary education for individuals with
disabilities. HEATH offers an information exchange about
educational support services, policies, procedures,
adaptations, and opportunities at American campuses,
vocational-technical schools, and other postsecondary training
entities. HEATH resource papers, fact sheets, guides, and
directories focus on topics such as accessibility, career,
development, classroom and laboratory adaptations, financial
aid, independent living, transition resources, training and
postsecondary education, vocational education, and

The Council for Exceptional
Children
The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is
the largest international professional organization dedicated
to improving educational outcomes for individuals with
exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the
gifted. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies,
sets professional standards, provides continual professional
development, advocates for newly and historically underserved
individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals
obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective

Information Center (ERIC)
The ERIC
Clearinghouse on Disabilities and Gifted Education (ERIC EC)
is one of 16 federally funded clearinghouses
in the ERIC system, a
nationwide information network sponsored by the U.S.

ERIC EC gathers and disseminates the professional literature,

LD Resources

The LD Resources web site provides resources

numerous programs and services, AG Bell promotes its mission:

American Foundation for the Blind
This site provides information on blindness and
low vision, Helen Keller, and such issues as advocacy, aging

provide services to people who are blind or visually impaired
and their families. The AFB website also lists jobs, interest

National Federation for the Blind
The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) is
the nation's largest and most influential consumer and
advocacy membership organization of blind persons.
The NFB provides public education about
blindness, information and referral services, scholarships,
literature and publications about blindness, aids and
appliances and other adaptive equipment for the blind,
advocacy services and protection of civil rights, development
and evaluation of technology, and support for blind persons
and their families. They also offer a materials Center
containing literature about blindness and different aids and
appliances used by the blind NFB-NEWSLINE® for the Blind, the
world's first free talking newspaper service, offers the blind
the complete text of leading national and local newspapers

The National
Assistive Technology Advocacy Project
This
project primarily directs its nationwide support services to
the network of Protection and Advocacy (P&A) and Client
Assistance Program attorneys and advocates who are working on

Legal Services and Legal Aid programs and to attorneys in the
private bar if they are working on AT-related issues.

Closing the Gap
Closing the Gap's
role is to provide information on microcomputer materials and
practices that can enrich the lives of persons with special
needs. Closing The Gap offers practical up-to-date information
on assistive technology products, procedures, and best
practices. CTG offers forums where one can share their
assistive technology questions, strategies and solutions with
an on-line community and articipate in moderated discussions
lead by experts in the field. They provide a searchable
database of 150 organizations from all over the country who
provide services for individuals with or parents, teachers and
employers, of children and adults with disabilities.
Center for Applied Special
Technology (CAST)
CAST is an educational, not-for-profit
organization that uses technology to expand opportunities for
all people, especially those with disabilities. This site
provides information on the Universal Design for Learning (UDL),
a new paradigm for teaching, learning, and assessment, drawing
on new brain research and new media technologies to respond to
individual learner differences.
CAST has established a National Center on
Accessing the General Curriculum to provide a vision of how
new curricula, teaching practices, and policies can be woven
together to create practical approaches for improved access to
the general curriculum by students with disabilities. They

Federation for Children with

The Federation is a center for parents and

Dyslexic
This site provides information about the
services provided by Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic. RFB&D
offers Custom Recording Service for those with print
disabilities to complete their educations, and advance their
careers. RFB&D records educational and reference materials
that are not available on tape or disc from other sources, in
areas such as history, math, science and economics. They also
have collections in their library in science, medicine,
environmental issues, law, women's studies, Jewish studies,
literature and fiction.

is a nationally recognized center that has pioneered research,

or grandparent has a disability or medical issue. This site
has an extensive list of resources and links. The site also
includes information on Parents with Disabilities, a
