Learning through Learning Centers Whether you have one computer or four computers in your classroom, learning centers can be an integral part of the learning environment. Come explore a collection of learning center ideas and learn to create some of your own. Recommended for: K-6 teachers. Strategies to Meet the Common Core Literacy Standards in Content Areas: Grades 6-8 The new Common Core English Language Arts standards require specific literacy proficiencies in all content subjects including Language Arts, Social Studies, History, Science and Technical subjects. This workshop will focus on WHY the standards are being implemented, WHAT is contained in the standards and HOW to engage students in specific strategies to read and comprehend complex informational texts. Additionally, an analysis of the type of Multiple Choice questions that test comprehension and align with the Standards will be discussed and practiced. This workshop is appropriate for all content areas teachers as well as reading and language arts teachers. Recommended for: Grade 6-8 teachers Differentiated Learning and Making Menus: What is differentiated learning? How can I incorporate this way of teaching into my curriculum? What is a menu and can I actually use one with my students? Come to this leading edge session and walk away with an understanding of differentiated learning and menus for any subject you teach. Classroom Instruction using the iPad Recommended for: Anyone interested in using a SMART board Differentiating Instruction with Technology Participants will learn about and explore available technology resources, tools, and activities that vary approaches to content, process, and product. Bring a colleague to help plan! Recommended for: All educators SMART BUG The goals of the SMART Board Users Group are to network with fellow SMART Board enthusiasts and to use SMART Notebook software effectively to improve student outcomes in the classroom. SMART BUG at the Middlesex ETTC is sponsored by Keyboard Consultants, Inc. and will be facilitated by Carolyn Bennett, SMART Certified Education Consultant. Come with your enthusiasm or inspire others with your expertise and take away ideas and best practices to use in your classroom Adding Interactivity to your SMART Board lessons In this session we will focus the learning on how to increase student involvement by providing strategies that will allow students to have more touches on the SMART Board. Some of the topics that will be covered include: an overview of the Lesson Activity Toolkit, demonstration of the infinite cloner, introduction to pull tabs, discussion of Dual Page display and Pin the Page features and attaching sound files.
