Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
The Center for Applied
Special Technology, CAST, coined the term Universal Design for Learning. The
CAST website states, “Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework for
designing curricula that enable all individuals to gain knowledge, skills, and
enthusiasm for learning. UDL provides rich supports for learning and reduces
barriers to the curriculum while maintaining high achievement standards for
all.” This workshop will help you incorporate UDL principles in your classroom

Mystery Festival
uses a classroom learning-station format; students study a "crime scene," then
conduct crime-lab tests on the evidence, analyze the results, and try to solve

This workshop will cover
various changes from Office 2003 to Office 2007, such as gallerys, ribbons and
the new Office button. We will see the new locations for commonly used features
such as inserting tables, formatting text, working with indents, tabs, and
outlines, as well as explore the new 3d graphics. This is a hands on course that
will leave you feeling comfortable and confident with Microsoft Office 2007. Introduction to Microsoft Word
After this full-day
workshop, you won’t be able to imagine how you existed without Microsoft Word.
You will learn to create, save and open documents; change the style and color of
text; add borders and shading; and use the spell checker and thesaurus.
Move beyond the basics of
Microsoft Word. In this workshop you will learn how to import pictures and other

Photoshop is a very
powerful and prolific program for the web enthusiast and designer alike. There
are many layers to this program and this workshop shows you how to tap into all
the resources available. Bring your curriculum ideas and leave with graphics fit
for a virtually art gallery. Specific questions will be encouraged and
addressed. Adobe
Photoshop is a key tool of the 21st Century technological revolution.
With a little practice, one can merge and edit images, retouch photographs,
design sophisticated print and electronic materials, and produce computer art.
In this introductory hands-on workshop, you will learn Photoshop foundational
skills. You will capture and transfer images with a digital camera; use
Photoshop’s selection and painting tool palettes; and take a picture of
yourself and blend it into an image of the past. You will be working and having
fun throughout the session. Tapping
the powerful potential of Adobe Photoshop, we will explore and apply some
advanced techniques and tools. We will explore color in sophisticated ways that
will make Andy Warhol jealous. Come learn hand colorization and apply special
effects such as shadows, glows, and lighting angles to typography and

This workshop picks up
where the introductory course ends. Looking at the tools provided in the
program, web designers, presentation and digital portfolio enthusiasts alike
will export original works of art for any and all multimedia K-12 requirements.
We’ll look at creating type face graphics, shaping buttons, color
gradients’ and photo masking to name a few. Participants will leave this
workshop with a cache of graphics to use in their classrooms. Using Microsoft Movie Maker as a Presentation Tool
If your district has
Microsoft Windows XP operating system then you have Movie Maker at your
fingertips. Come in and learn a new way of presenting information to your class,
district and/or community. Utilizing still pictures, video, sound recordings,
and original artwork, you will create a 21st century presentation
that will change the way you use your computer. Getting Started with Moodle: Your Online Classroom As explained on moodle.org, “Moodle is a course management system (CMS) - a free, Open Source software package designed using sound pedagogical principles, to help educators create effective online learning communities.” This hands-on workshop will allow users to take Moodle for a test drive. Experience an existing Moodle classroom and then learn how to get started on creating your own Moodle site. You will learn how to create an online classroom, upload files, setup calendars, include podcasts and video, and assorted other features built into a Moodle site. personal publishers and broadcasters in ways that connect the subject area with
writing and speaking skills. In the morning we will explore the world of blogs
and how a blog can relate to your instructional goals. You will establish a blog

podcasting. You will learn the vocabulary, the tools and the process used to
locate, download, create and publicize your own podcasts. Find out what all the

tools, too. There is Google Books, Google Earth, Google Maps and Google Forms.

exciting to your math, language arts, world language, or
social studies lessons. Podcasts in the Elementary Classroom

your students into newscasters, literary critics, learning consultants and

Dreamweaver by exploring the palettes and preferences. We’ll set up a Web site
by creating and organizing files, building and managing site structure, and
checking links. We’ll examine Dreamweaver properties, horizontal rules, lists,
background and text colors. Learn to insert and position your images and setup
both internal and external hyperlinks. |
